Friday, April 19, 2013

Well today is definitely going to be busy for me.

First, I have to turn in a religion final test.  My religion tests are totally crazy.  They start me off easy, a simple multiple choice section.  Then they do a true/false section, not too bad.  THEN BOOM!!!  They dump me with a ESSAY.  I had to write three essays before, now its just one.  But its still hard.  Not that I'm a bad writer or anything, I'm just not big on sitting for a long time writing an essay for a test that scares me.  However, I scored a 98, 97, and 98 on my past semester tests collectively.  So I am pretty confident that I'll do well.

Second, I have PE today.  I am glad that I get to see my friends, but like I said I have a religion final to get done.

Finally, its family movie night.  the whole family gets together after dinner to watch a show.  Usually its a movie, but sometimes we watch TV episodes.  This will also intrude on my study/test time.  You know what?!?!  I could be studying write now?!?!  Jeez thanks for keeping me. ;)

I really need to study, talk to you later though

Halo 4: Assassination

Downton Abbey

Well it's solved!!!

I bought the second season of Downton Abbey.  I even watched the first episode, it was pretty good.  For all of you who have not seen it, you really should.  However, there are some "immoral"scenes.  Such as, there is part in which two homosexual men kiss one another.  This takes place in the first or second episodes of the first season.  And a woman and a man have a sexual moment together in a room.  No bare body parts are shown, just kissing on a bed.  Other than those things, the show is really good.  I hope you get a chance to see it some time.

Downton Abbey

Awwww man!

I just finished the first season of Downton Abbey on Netflix.  And guess what?!?!  They don't have the second season.  By my reckoning I have two options to my dilema; first, I could by the other seasons on my Apple TV; second, I could order them disc by disc.  I'm kinda leaning toward buying them.  Seasons two and three are a total of $40.00 altogether.  Well I'm not too sure, maybe I can get my mom to help buy them.

I'll let you know how it plays out,

Saturdays throughout the ages

Age 12)

On Saturdays when I was twelve I didn't watch too much television, I had friends I could hang out with for the whole day.  It was really awesome, I thought that was the best year of my life.  I lived in Anchorage, Alaska and I had tons of friends that lived in the same neighborhood.  So a typical Saturday was to go outside and play catch with friends or just sit and chat.  (at this time I couldn't care less if I played video games or not)

Age 13)

Saturdays when I was 13.  Well at that time we were living in the middle of nowhere without a decent internet connection.  I did go swimming in a nearby pond in the summer and I did watch movies sometimes.  Not any friends living in the neighborhood though, we had to drive into the city to meet with friends in the PE group.  Finally, Christmas came and the family got a Wii!  I played it every Saturday.  On my thirteenth birthday my mom actually let me play the Xbox 360 for the first time in years.  However, I was only allowed to play the Xbox on my birthday at that time.

Age 14 - present)

Just a few months before my 14th birthday my mom let me play any video game I wanted for a whole Saturday (at this time I became addicted to the Xbox).  About three months after my 14th birthday my mom made the most devastating decision of my entire video game life.  I was not allowed to play M games anymore!?!?!?!  Earlier in my posts I said I love Halo.  So I begged my mom to reconsider her rash decision, but she held fast.  Instead I begged her to let me play Halo, she agreed to only one hour.  Ever since then I have been playing T and E games with Halo all day Saturday.  Until my mom made another devastating decision.  I can only play one hour of video games per week period.  NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
I could not believe my ears.  I asked her to repeat what she said, it was true.  I could not only not play M games anymore, but I could only play the Ts and Es for 1 HOUR!!!!  (at this time I was addicted to playing Call of Duty 3 and Halo 4).  So I have been doing this for the last 2 weeks and it has been horrible.  Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse.  WE ARE NO LONGER ALOWED TO WAATCH SHOWS THAT AREN'T MORALLY EDIFYING!!!!  Thats like all of the shows we were used to watching.  Now we watch a TV show called Little Men, and Little House on the Prairie, and little this, and little that, and little blah blah blah!!!  There was one good thing about all that though I found "Dowton Abbey," this totally cool show is about a rich family living in England in about 1912.  Very interesting conflicts and characters.  My mom thought it had some moral edification, so I watch it.  I am currently on the seventh episode of the first season.

Well as you can see my TV life has been under attack.  I raised my white flag and now I must play 1 hour of video games, watch moral movies, and count down the days until I move out and can get my own TV and Xbox.

The Miscommunication Situation

This is story of an event that occurred in my life.  It is one - hundred percent true and real.  Read it while I weep.

Dane

_________
Not long ago, I found out that I completely messed up years of tradition. It all started
when my friend, Mr. Steve, asked me to give a talk at a special conference. I told him I would,
but that I did not know what to say. To my relief, he said there was a script I could read. Now at
that time, I thought a script was an outline of what I needed to say about my own life.
Unfortunately, I received the script too late, which ended being my downfall.
The day of the conference arrived and with it the mistake of the ages. When Mr. Steve
and I arrived at the conference, I still had not received a script. Mr. Steve and I decided to ask
around in hopes of finding someone with an extra copy. After a little while of searching we
found a nice lady who was glad to give us one. I got the chance to look it over while other
people were giving their talks. It said, “Hi! My name is Robert…” I thought that was really
strange, especially since my name is definitely not “Robert.” I decided to make some changes to
the script so that it would make more sense to me. I had no idea of the affect my talk would have
on the event.
The other speakers had finished their talks, it was my turn now. To my surprise the lady
in charge introduced me to the audience before I spoke. She said, “Now everyone! I would like
to introduce my friend, Robert!” They had got my name wrong again! I made sure they knew
my name was not Robert. I started my talk by saying, “Hello. My name isn’t really Robert, I’m
Dane.” In addition, I read that “Robert” was fifteen years old. At that time I was only thirteen,
so I changed that as well and told them my real age, not “Roberts.” Throughout the entire talk, I
changed things on the script where I saw significant differences. There were moments when people laughed at me, but I felt that overall it went well. After I finished my talk and went
home, I discovered my enormous blunder.
When I arrived back home I told my mom everything that transpired at the event. When I
came to the part about me telling everyone my real name and the changes I made to the script,
she started laughing and laughing. When she got a hold of herself, she said, “Dane! You
weren’t supposed to change anything. It was all a skit, and you played the part of a boy named
Robert.” At that moment I had a total understanding. I knew right then why it was important
that I receive a script. I also understood why everyone laughed when I changed things on the
script. I was aghast! I have no idea how many years they had been performing that skit, but my
performance had certainly made it unique for that year.

P.E group

Every Friday I go to the Billings Boys and Girls Club to play physical sports as a way to stay physically fit.  I really enjoy it.  I have many friends that I have known for years, my oldest friendship has lasted for eight years.  This "PE group" consists of families that are Catholic and homeschool their children.  I had a really good time today.  My friend Damian brought a toy that made farting noises when you squeezed it.  He and I had a great time setting it off when people walked by.  My brother did it so much that he was put in a "time out" for farting near the wrong person.  I guess Damian was a little more careful after that.  Well it is family movie night.....  I gotta go

God bless,

TVs

Well, now I will to tell about all of the TVs in my house.

I have four TVs in my house right now.  Two tube TVs and two big flat screens.  The Nintendo Wii is hooked up with the TV in my room, and the Xbox 360 is hooked up with the TV in my parents room.  The girls have a VHS and DVD player hooked up with TV in there room.  Finally, there is a Blu-ray system and Apple TV set up with the big Vizio flat screen in the family room.  Since we are only allowed to play video games and watch TV on Saturday, it gets rather busy.

Well talk to you later,

Dane

Mornings

Good morning!!!!

Mornings...  Probably the worst idea ever invented.  I just can't leave the warmth and comfort of my bed.  But I have to sometimes and it STINKS.  I do have a usual morning routine.  First, I wake up; then I work up enough energy to step out of bed.  Then I cook my breakfast, which is usually eggs that I cook in different ways on different mornings.  After I do my morning chores I start school, roughly between 8:00 am and 10:00 am (depending on how my morning went).  After I free myself from the bonds of school I read, play, or watch a movie.  Well thats pretty much how I start my day.

Talk to you later,

Dane

Bedtime

Well it has reached my favorite time of the day, bed time.  I just love the feeling of laying down in the soft security of my comforter and my pillow, and closing my eyes and entering the wonderful world of my dreams.  I have such weird dreams sometimes.  Perhaps I will tell you what they are tomorrow morning.

Well I must be getting to bed.  I like to read the 39 clues before drifting off to sleep.

Good night,

Dane

Halo 4

Like I said before I do love Hole 4!!!  So once in a while I'll post some epic pictures.

The 39 Clues

For all of you avid readers out there,

This series is "off the chain" (inside joke).  Seriously though, the 39 clues is a book series following a fourteen year old girl named Amy Cahill and her eleven year old brother, Dan Cahill.  Their grandmother dies leaving them with the task of discovering 39 clues.  They race against their evil family and discover many secrets about their ancestry.  Its pretty awesome, you should read it.

God bless,

Dane

Video Games

Oh my gosh!!!!

You people need to know that I have a love of video games.  Halo, Call of Duty, and Minecraft I love them all.  My most favorite is Halo 4 (awesome).  If I had the choice I would never stop playing it, but I don't have that choice.  I am only allowed to play video games on Saturday.  Recently, I am only allowed to play them for one short hour (mom said I was addicted).  Anyways, for all of you people who are reluctant to get Halo 4, YOU REALLY NEED TO GET IT!!!!!  It is totally awesome.  And I will see you on the battlefield.

God bless,

Dane

SETON!!!!!!

For all of you Catholic moms out there!!! I want you to know that everything you heard about the Seton Home Study School is right. It is very hard, time-consuming, Orthodox Catholic, and really HARD!!!! I cant believe I survived the three years I did. I nearly went insane. It takes a lot of Divine Providence, let me tell you. However, it is very rewarding. I learned so much in the past three years. I am still doing Seton. And I will be doing Seton all through high school, its nearing the end of my freshman year. I cannot wait until summer vacation. So anyway, all you Catholic moms. It is a smart move to put kids in Seton; but, be warned you are getting yourselves and kids into a whole lot of trouble. God bless, Dane
